Meet Your Host
Elizabeth Doherty, CCC-SLP, A/AOG
Hi, I'm Elizabeth. I refuse to believe PD has to be boring.
I spent over a decade as a school-based SLP in NYC, completely lost on how to help my students with reading. There were no answers on where speech pathology ended and reading instruction began.
So I found them myself and once I saw how the science of reading connects straight to our language expertise, everything changed.
I left the school system, built a private practice specializing in literacy, got certified by the Orton-Gillingham Academy and the International Dyslexia Association, and even started doctoral studies.
What I learned along the way transformed my student outcomes and, honestly, the trajectory of my career. I Knew I had to share the science of reading with more SLPs. And I refused to let the PD I created be boring.
That energy is why I threw our first Reading SLP Summit... and why 6,000+ SLPs showed up for it. So obviously, we're doing it again.
This is our second annual Reading SLP Summit — free, from your couch, zero travel required — and every speaker was hand-picked because they're the real deal on the challenges you face every day. This is the event I wish someone had handed me on day one. Let's make literacy PD fun!!!
