From Talkers to Readers:
The FREE Pre-Literacy Bundle for SLPs!
Wait… You Can Build Reading Skills BEFORE Kids Learn to Read?!
Research tells us that literacy starts developing from birth, and literacy challenges can be prevented before school even starts.
This means that early intervention isn't just a classification: it's also a high-leverage moment to change the course of a child's entire academic future.
How would it feel to be the clinician who prevents reading challenges before they even start?
You will with this FREE download:
✔️ A birth-to-five checklist that maps oral language AND literacy milestones side by side
✔️ The 5 pre-literacy areas every SLP working with preschoolers needs to know (and how to target each one)
✔️ A key fact about recovered late talkers that grad school doesn't cover
✔️ A research introduction so you walk into any team meeting and confidently talk about literacy
two amazing resources in one free download!
A quick-reference developmental checklist covering oral language and pre-literacy milestones from 12 to 60 months
A breakdown of the five early skills that predict later reading success, with clinical implications for each one
Here's exactly what you can expect after downloading:
🚨 Stop waiting for kindergarten to start building reading skills.
Pre-literacy skills are among the strongest predictors of reading success, and they're developing right now in the preschoolers on your caseload. This checklist shows you what to target between birth and age five to set your clients up for academic success.
🤯 Finally understand why late talkers are still at risk even after they "catch up." This guide will change how you advocate for every preschooler you serve. Recovered late talkers are known to struggle with literacy later in their academic careers, and you may be the only professional on the team able to identify reading delays before they start.
👩🏻🏫 Teach pre-literacy with confidence instead of avoiding it because it feels outside your scope. Spoiler: it's not outside your scope. It IS your scope. This guide gives you the language to own it.
🪜 Know exactly what to target at every age from birth to five. The oral language and literacy development checklist tells you where each child is — and what to build next.
🏆 Build your credibility as the literacy expert on your team. Walk into IEP meetings, parent conferences, and school leadership conversations knowing the research and ready to advocate for your preschoolers.
The Checklist That's Blowing Up Every Mom's Group Chat
I spent years in public schools watching the literacy gap play out in real time. I was in one of the first districts in the country to implement Universal Pre-K.
When I started searching for pre-literacy resources....I could't find anything built specifically for little ones with delayed speech and language.
So I built it myself.
I eventually left the schools, built a private practice, and founded The Reading SLP: the first professional community built by and for SLPs who are done sitting on the sidelines of the reading conversation.
Now, as a mom of a four-year-old and a one-year-old, this is the exact checklist I wish my pediatrician would give me. It's what I've been texting to every mom friend I have.
Now, I'm sharing it with everyone.
Let's go!
